Visit to Orchid Show

I know .......... when it comes to taking photos of flowers I just can't help myself.

These beautiful orchids and broms were some of the 100's of specimens on display at the yearly orchid show in Caboolture earlier this month. I have never seen so many colours and types, shapes and sizes. They ranged from tiny flowers - no more than 1 cm across to some which must have been 15cm.

The perfumes of some of the orchids were so soft and delicate yet others quite sickly sweet.

There was also a display of broms and these were two of the more eye-catching ones.

I loved this one - it reminded me of a bad hair day - lol.

God's Painting in the Sky

We have had the most spectacular sunrises of late. The colours have just been magnificent and the photos just don't do justice to the scene which has greeted us in the mornings. Who but God could create such a masterpiece.

These photos were taken by my mum from the patio of their cottage.

Good Friends

I just couldn't resist taking a photo of my two friends. Shadow (the smaller of the two) is my girl and Heinzie is mum's dog however I am now his surrogate mum as unfortunately mum and dad are unable to have a dog in their cottage at the retirement village. As you can see though he's made himself quite at home - lol.

A Bit of Neglect Does Wonders

I have been baby-sitting mum's plants since their move last year while she finds homes for them at their new cottage. Unfortunately my plants don't get the TLC from me which mum gives to hers but a bit of neglect has certainly been the tonic needed for this orchid. I'm not sure what sort it is although mum calls it a Vanilla Orchid as it has the most beautiful perfume.

Apparently this orchid flowered the first year in which mum purchased it but has stubbornly refused to flower since. Whether it is from all the rain which we've had this year or the cooler weather however it's decided to put out the most beautiful display with three lovely flower
spikes.

And of course as usual - if I am paying attention to anything other then Shadow she has to get into the act with her ball.

Hi to Everyone

Hi to Everyone, thanks for browsing my blog. These are just my ramblings about nothing & everything happening in our little bit of Australia.

This year I will be sharing with you my love of paper craft.
